25/11/2010 : Waiting for the Client's Call

Well, i had kinda mentioned all the possible positives a person can have, in my last blog, ignoring the very fact that he might be TOO GOOD for inexperienced consultants as we are.

Our regular walk to the Raj Bhavan at 9 in the morning may pay rich dividends in the long run. As of now, its quite arduous. God knows why they have constructed such an important site on the hilltop. Same goes with the CM bhavan and the Banquet hall. The former can be well sighted from my hotel room itself, its on the top of an adjacent hill. There's not much of public transport out here, barring the slow and costly auto-service. An average individual maintains a car over here, though as far as the census records are considered, a substantial part of the population is projected as BPL.So we are right now kind of "below average" or “a- slice-of-a -rotten-mango” class :-P. The place is damn costly, except the liquor :-D. Akash, fortunately has found 2 new Oriya friends, over here and goes out for evening gup-sups at their place. They are kind of nice and helpful as well. And yeah, there are considerable number of Bengalis too, though I have been interacting with just 1 or 2 since the day I have reached Itanagar, which happens to be a part of the Papum Pare District. No offense intended, but the names of the Districts here are quite funny...especially the one called Changlang, makes us giggle every time we have to communicate with the DC of that district.

The last 2 days have been really really boring, with torrential rainfall and disruption of services like the TV, the wireless internet connection and the Mobile network. The mountains are characterized by “the laid back” attitude- the shops or the offices start at about 9.30-10 in the morning and whatever work (its really a “WHATEVER” :-P), is up to the lunch break. They are all home-bound by 3-3.30 at noon. AMAZING!! We were really pissed off to find that even the ATM's fall in this category. Strange lot!! We have discovered a Bengali restaurant out here, but the accent they use, MY GOD, isse to hindi hi achhi hay!!

We have also excavated a “MALL” out here. Well the 2 words “excavate” and “mall” are significant because -1.The mall or whatever is underground or maybe its under the normal walking surface. 2.I mean its a collection of JUST shops, there’s no space to walk o whatever. The funda is come-see-shop-and-leave. Oh by the way, Nike and Adidas have reached Itanagar, fortunately for us and unfortunately for them.

My observation – People here, lack confidence i suppose. They use the term “na?” after each sentence.(The best example- Yeah mera underwear hi hay na? :-P). They tend to confirm the known statement twice before executing. Chalo accha hay!! At least we don’t have to MONITOR these guys too (Basically, a segment of our work here is monitoring the entire procedure- GOSH). I guess I saw Prashant Tamang once, or maybe no, they all look the same :D!!

Waise the weather here is quite romantic and lazy lazy types. So, am kinda forced to stop, acknowledging this attribute. :-P. Cya guys!!

P.S.- The client is literally mincing us in all direction hee hee. So lets not talk about him anymore in this section.
